THe Book of Mormon is true!
In this last weekend's General Conference Elder Tad Callister gave a stirring talk about the Book of Mormon. Elder Callister spoke very authoritatively. I don't think that anyone who listened to his talk could refute what he said. He pointed out that those in opposition to the Book of Mormon claim that it was written by influence of the devil. However, the book has power to bring anyone who genuinely reads it closer to Christ, therefore if the devil influenced it he would be working against himself. The Book of Mormon has been bringing people to Christ for over 175 years now. Only a book of God could have such positive effects on the lives of those who read it. Elder Callister left no doubt, if there ever was any, as to the origins of the Book of Mormon.

Interesting fact: my priest quorum leader back in my home town is Elder Callister's nephew. Anyways, I was amazed at how straight-forward and effective his talk was. When I think about the Book of Mormon now, I always relate back to the logos given from the text in which he spoke. What he taught is completely logical and easy to follow. I loved this talk!
ReplyDeleteThat was a way good talk! I thought h did a great job talking about how the Book of Mormon can't be from the devil like you mentioned. I thought it was especially powerful how he used the New Testament argument that Jesus made that, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I think using a totally relevant, Biblical argument, from the Savior himself, is really effective for against those (not for Bible bashing of course, but for peacefully resolving a sincere concern or question) who try to attack the Book of Mormon with the Bible.
